2010 - Year Of Favor!

Our church (Glad Tidings) have declared that 2010 is the Year of Favor!

What is Favor?

Favor is is different from Grace, although it comes from the same root word. Grace is undeserved, unmerited. But the Bible is full of instruction about how we can obtain favor. Favor comes upon those who are watching, waiting, praying, keeping His commands, walking in kindness and truth… All of these things produce Favor! We live in the Favor of the Lord through prayer, faith, obedience and perseverance. Our prayer life, our faith in God and His Word, our obedience to God and our perseverance all determine the level of God’s favor in our lives and church.

So for 2010, we urge you to read through the 10 Blessings below that the Favor of God will produce, and as it “hits” you, claim it for yourself in 2010!!

10 Blessings that the FAVOR of God will produce!

1.God’s favor can produce supernatural promotion and increase (Gen 39:21)
2.God’s favor bring restorationof everything the enemy has stolen (Exo 3:21)
3.God’s favor bring honor in the midst of adversaries (Exo 11:3)
4.God’s favor can produce increased assets (Deut 33:23)
5.God’s favor can give great and unsual victories even against impossible odds (Jos 6:20; 10:9,20)
6.God’s favor can give recognition and promotion even when you seem to be the least likely one to receive it (1 Sam 16:22)
7.God’s favor can produce prominence and preferential treatment, favor and kindness (Est 5:8)

Some weeks back, Weng Yan aka Beeboo shared the passage below with the cell. She took it from Bobbie Houston's blog. It was such an encouragement to me at that time and hope it would encourage you as well.

I love the thought of us ALL being WORLD CHANGERS!!
I love the thought that God considered us ALL unique & special enough to plant us at such a crazy/wonderful time in history.
I love the thought that in doing so, He would have invested unique gift and measure within ALL of us so that we could fulfil that planting.
I love that He is no respector of persons and invites us all.
I love that He will use any willing heart that is, well willing.
I love that we don't have to impress Him.
I love that we can come as we are.
I love that He specialises in people who think they are pathetic, but really aren't.
I love that He is gentle and patient and persistent in shaping us into what He knows we can become.
I love that He is not freaked out at the state of the world.
I love that He is calm.
I love that He has a plan.
I love that He considers us capable to carry His heart and make a difference.
I love that He can take the likes of you and I and make us ALL WORLD CHANGERS IN ONE WAY OR ANOTHER.
I love that no one is excluded and that we each have an individually distinct world to focus on friends, family, workmates, street, church, community and all those beautiful strangers who so often slide across our paths unseen, unnoticed.

So agree with me as I write this on a wintery afternoon in Sydney... there's a world to love, a world to influence, a world to pray for. Don't diminish your part, don't stress over how it will all pan out and don't wonder how and where to find the will of God.

Rest in His love, rest in His providence, rest in His promise, be faithful with what is important and non-negotiable in His Word, find a need, make a stand, put your hand up, stay at your post and trust me, the rest will take care of itself.

So why DO NOT DISTURB, WORLD CHANGER AT REST?

Because all world changers need reminders... rest in His grace, rest in His enabling, rest in His Spirit, rest that He is well able to complete what He has begun.

"Not by might, not by power, but by my Spirit," says our God. Our strength can carry us so far, but His Strength will carry us all the way.. and then BEYOND what we could ever hope or imagine.

Praying that each and every one of us will learn the art of 'labouring from a place of REST".

Please come everyone (eventhough you might be missing cell for some time, it's ok, you're most welcome to join, we miss you!!)..we will have lots of funs during the night and on Sun morning..you can choose not to sleep throughout Sat night (if you want to) but drivers are not advisable to do so ya^^

The Bible Says: Don't TRY - RELY

Try as hard as you can, you can't earn heaven and you can't become a stronger christian by trying to keep God's law. The important word here is try.

To try is to attempt to do something on your own.

You've done that, and you know how easy it is to fail. Try harder, and you still fail. In fact, that's what the law is best at: showing you how you fail no matter how hard you try (Galatians 3 : 19-22).

The Bible says to rely, not try.

Your relationship with God is based on faith, not on trying to keep his law (Galatians 3 : 6-9). That means you trust God so much you step out and do what's right. Not by extra effort. Not by depending on yourself. But by relying on the Lord and discovering that He really will help you succeed, not fail.

So, stop trying on your own today! Rely on God all the wayyyy! =D WOOHOO!

Jesus said, “Martha, Martha, you worry and fret about so many things and yet few are needed, indeed only one. It is Mary who has chosen the better part, it is not to be taken from her.” How right he was!

Let us not get too busy with our own lives and forget about the real meaning and joy of life and miss out on a spiritual life and friendship with God just as Martha lost out when Jesus came to her. We all need silence and space for ourselves and also for God.

Jesus said, “when you pray go to your private room and shut yourself in.” (Matt 6:6) That private room is making space for Jesus. Whatever way we do it.

So here's the 5 steps to having a great and wonderful TAWG.

1. Get Ready to hear from God
Invite God's presence and ask Him to reveal Himself and His truths to you.

2. Read and reflect on God's Word
read slowly/aloud... as you read, ask God: Lord, what are you saying to me today?
What does the bible say about God/ Me: who is God, Who am I... what God has done, What God think of me...

3. S. P. A. C. E

S--- Sins that i need to confess/ avoid
P---Promises for me to claim
A---Attitudes for me to adapt
C---Commands that I should obey
E---Examples that I should follow/avoid

4. Response to God:
say---
"I'm sorry": confess and repentance
"Thank you": give thanks to God
"Please": Pray for needs, your own and others
"I love you": End with praise and worship

5. Record your conversations with God...
- What did God speak to you?
-How did it change your perspective?
-How will you apply it in your daily life?

May we build a deeper intimacy with our Lord Father!

Secret Barnabas

Joseph, who was called Barnabas (“one who encourages”), sold a field and gave the proceeds to the apostles (Acts4:36-37). When the apostles were frightened of Saul, Barnabas vouched for his good character (Acts 9:26-27). Each of us have been chosen to be a Secret Barnabas to encourage a brother or sister! Bless Them!

We just learnt in cell that JESUS chose US! What a revelation of His great Love for each one of us!

We ended cell the launch of Secret Barnabas! We are to encourage each other and to bless each other secretly!

For those involved in the Worship Team and AV, I know you are scheduled to have a combined meeting with the team to catch the vision shared by the Worship Pastor @ 130pm. Can you come a little earlier for the water baptism?

Going Chik Chak-ing!!!

What started out with only 2 person participating from cell turned into a huge turnout of 12 people. With michelle bugging us non-stop (sorry mich, we still love you ;p ), we finally had enough to make 2 teams.

After massive brain-storming where names like "Alpha" & "Omega" "Seraphim" and "Cerubim" were thrown in, we decided to name out group something something funky and fun "Bibbity" and "Boppity" :D

1st of May was hot and sunny. And since I'm not very good in story-telling, I'll let the pictures do the talking. Enjoy peeps!!!

Cell's in Church this Friday

Hey Peeps

How has your week been? Hope you've had a good week.

Many are studying for exams coming up in the next few days/weeks. Continue to rely upon His strength.

For the working folks, may God grant you the favour with all whom you deal with daily.

"Not by power, not by might, but by my Spirit says the Lord Almighty". Zech 4:6. Claim it everyday over your lives and your circumstances.

Just a quick update - Cell's not at my home this Friday, it's at church! It's Zonal Prayer Meeting this Friday, 8th May. All the Youth and YA will be meeting in church, Zoe House @ 830pm for prayer and to soak in the presence of the Lord. It will be an awesome time of waiting upon the Lord.

Ever wonder what is the key to growth in our cell and our lives? It's PRAYER. Jesus modeled this in His ministry as He constantly withdrew from the crowd to have time alone with God (TAWG). So, take time to be with God and join us this Friday yea? There's power in Corporate Prayer.

I often warn women who are contemplating marriage to marry someone who
can take care of them. When a woman marries, it ought to be to someone
who is capable of taking her to the next level. If she comes from
poverty, there is no reason for her to get married and still be
impoverished. The role of the man is to take her to another place.

When she gets married, she ought to dress better, drive better, live
better, and eat better, not constantly be in a struggle over where her
next meal is coming from. My grandmother used to say, 'I can do badly
all by myself'. For a woman desiring a mate, the objective, of course,
would be to find a Christian man, who's settled, has goals,
accomplishments and a job. But a goal-oriented and focused man can't
just be approached any kind of way. So the woman who seeks this type of
stability must make sure that she stands out above the crowd:

1. Make sure your relationship with the Lord is strong and growing.

2. Make sure that you are presentable. Working from the inside out, your
presentation should be representative of both who you are and whom you
seek.

Appearance is a reflection of how you see yourself.

3. Have the ability to hold an intelligent conversation.

4. And most importantly, allow the Holy Ghost to take control. You don't
need to go after him. He's going to come after you, because after he
sees and smells you and knows that you're in his presence, he's going to
want to know who you are! I know there's somebody reading this who has
been chasing after the 'man of your dreams,' but God says, 'Just sit
still and allow patience to have her perfect work through Me.'

Furthermore, it's never a good idea to be too forward and too
aggressive. Attempting to win a man's affection by jumping into bed with
him will only backfire and cause him to lose interest in ever developing
a lasting relationship. It causes him to lose respect for you and
question your character. However, if he sees that you are dressed with
quality, that you smell like you are somebody, that you look like you're
doing fine without him, then that will attract the right attention from
him. He'll have no choice but to give you his attention. Stop looking so
needy, climbing into bed, trying in vain to capture a man's heart.

God woke me up in the middle of the night and said, 'The same thing that
Naomi told Ruth to do is the same thing that I want them to do for me.
'God is so sick of saints coming to Him trying to get a quickie and
never romancing Him for Who he is - going to church screaming, shouting
and hollering, but hadn't been intimate with God all week long! Stop
trying to treat God like a sugar daddy and start romancing Him with
worship and praise: 'I'm yours Lord...everything I've got...everything
I'm not!'

The God we serve, which is the God of love, demands and requires of us
foreplay before He gives us what we need. In the book of Ruth, the
mother-in-law tells Ruth, 'You have to wash.' John 15:3 reminds us, Now
ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you. When you sit
in the Gospel of Jesus Christ, you are taking a shower. When you hear
the unadulterated Word of God, then the dirt and grime that you've
accumulated all week long begins to wash off of you.

Ask God to 'create in you a clean heart and renew a right spirit.' Stand
in the word. Then wait upon the Lord to renew your strength. We are to be
Naomi's of the world today. Our young women need to be informed of how
to catch and keep a man that will respect them.

I'm sure you heard the annoucement at church last week about 'Chik Chak' Photo Rally... This is a Young Adults Event and it's the perfect opportunity for you to invite your colleagues and friends..

KEY INFO

Date: 1 May

Time : Morning to Lunch Time

Team: 7 to 10 pax per team

Cost : RM10 per person

Flag Off : GTPJ Section 13

Finishing Line : GTPJ Section 13

1. Each team will be given a no of items to hunt and take a photo of that item within a set time at various locations. Each team is only allowed to submit One Memory Card (its not the camera that counts, its how creative your team takes the shot and whether u follow instructions properly. If you use more than one camera, please remember that u can only submit ONE Memory Card, so the team needs to think how they can put all the photos into that one stick).

2. There will be clues and criteria set to successfully complete each item.

3. A panel of judges will judge and rate the photos on a point system according to the set criteria.

4. Top 3 teams with the most point will WIN Prizes!

5. Its not about speed, its about team work, planning & creativity that will determine the winner!!

So let's get geared up and try to form as many teams as possible yea? Please do give me your names so that I can register for you. Closing date is this Saturday.

Nathanael WALKED!

Received an email from Daren saying that Nathanael walked~! I was so blessed by the message.

Let's all continue to pray for Nathanael's quick recovery. :) Anyway, here's the email from Daren:

Nathanael achieved a new milestone on Good Friday, he was standing up (unassisted) and decided to take few steps (unassisted) on His own in church! We are really so Blest ... and we wanna Praise God for touching Nathanael! TQ so much for all your prayers, we’ve been “wanting” and waiting for Nathanael to walk for the longest time, and amazingly ... on Good Friday he did. So so so so Awesome!! God is Amazing! I’ve shared this with the worship team, and would like to encourage you all with what happened a week ago . .. . . . .. Just the Saturday before the Easter Weekend on 4^th April, PGC & I were worship leading, when Ps Julie came up and took over the service whilst we sang “At The Cross”. After PJK challenged the congregation, we continued singing the song.

When You Said That It Is Done

.. .. it was just at that point ... when the Holy Spirit spoke into my Heart. “Daren, Nathanael’s Healing It Is Done!” Wah... it was an extremely powerful Word that came to me and tears were just running down and i was like YES LORD!!. It was the Rhema Word of God speaking so distinctly and so clearly ... It Is Done!! So after sharing that with the worship team back stage on what i experienced, i went out and share with Tiff what God spoke about Nathanael..... and guess what?

Tiff was worshipping in front and just at that same moment... when we sang the bridge of At The Cross, the Holy Spirit also spoke to her that’s Nathanael’s condition... IT IS DONE! Amazing! God is Amazing! He works on a Stereo Sound effect, ... u know what i mean, God chose to speak to both the father and the mother and not just one of us. That strengthens our faith even more! And we were just giving Thanks everyday, and proclaiming the Finish Work of God over Nathanael .... and in less than one week .... Nathanael Walks!

Hey Guys

I just received word that the concert tomorrow for Kitso's fundraiser has been postponed. All the Botswana student's allowances have been delayed, thus most of them are unable to buy the ticket and pay for their ride to and fro to college.

I apologize for the inconvenience. The cash that has been raised and collected will still be passed to Kitso. Will keep you updated on the concert details.

As for tomorrow night, we'll continue with cell as usual at my place, 830pm. I'm looking forward to seeing you guys.

Hwee Yen's Affirmation

Last night, we affirmed HY at cell as she'll be moving on to take on the position of a Zone Leader.. It was a night full of emotions as we each took our time to appreciate her and to release words of encouragement that God placed in our hearts for her..

PGC then thought that it should be the cell members praying for HY instead of the usual Zone Supervisor praying for the person being affirmed.. It went from two of us to pray to NINE of us.. The prayers were beautiful, at the same time very mature.. More words released.. God also showed visions to three of them..

Great things are in store for you HY. Your prayers, love, tears, sweat are not in vain!

Celebrating Amos & Zhi Ling's Birthdays

Last Thursday, 9 of us headed down to Italiannies at One Utama to celebrate..

birthdays. There was good food accompanied by good company.

Birthday babies were asked to stand on the chair and give a speech.. It was hilarious!! Anyone got that on tape?? We have to post it up..

Andrew couldn't get enough of the bread served.. Josie was just 'high' the whole night long..

All in all it was an awesome night!! Looking forward to more birthday celebrations!!

One of our cellies's dad has accepted the Lord. She's been praying along for her family for a long time and now, not only has her dad become a Christian, her mum also followed her dad to church last Sunday. It is such a breakthrough in her family!

It's the Year of Positioning

Heya peeps!

Firstly, HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!! :)

Managed to catch quite a few of you during service but I still miss all of you! I know I've been rather quiet on my part but that doesn't mean I have forgotten you, it means that I have thought about you often and my heart has been filled with many things for you too.

I think for many of us 2008 has been an "interesting" year, and at the risk of sounding too general, perhaps it would be more apt to say challenging, joyful, trying, blessed, [insert your own version here ] and more. But nevertheless, it has been a good year because God has been good, Amen? I'm sure many of you have seen His hand of favor and covering upon your lives, through the many different seasons you've been through, as you sat to reflect on the year past.

Be thankful, be grateful, laugh at them but learn from them because new things are about to come your way!

Isaiah 42: 9 reads..."See, the former things have taken place, and new things I declare; before they spring into being, I announce them to you."

It's a new year for all of us and I can't think how significant it is that this is the Year of Positioning - where all of us will find our new position in life, in our families,in the body of Christ, in Cell, our study and work places - throughout our entire circle of influence. And i truly believe it comes from seeking and listening intently to God. New things He declares but before they spring into being He announces it to you - it doesn't catch you by surprise but it is a progression from where you are, a product of your life and service, so that is KEY in looking for your direction this year - on your knees and in prayer so that God can "announce" it to you :)

So as you begin this year, let's begin it right together - with prayers and petitions that God will reveal that straight path for you in 2009, Amen? :)

My love and prayers are absolutely with you, so here's to a greater, more real, God-driven 2009!I can't wait to see you guys this friday! :)

Our Living Hope Through Jesus

I've been wanting to post this paragraph from last week's cell lesson the whole week but I've just been so busy..

Hope you are as encouraged and blessed by it as I was when I first read it..

The Lord has purposed every experience that you have faced today. Paul teaches us that we have much to praise God for because He has given us a living hope through Jesus. If it were up to us, that process probably wouldn't include times of suffering, grief or trials. But God knows us well, and as our loving Father he knows that our faith and character are developed only through trials and testings. The apostle Paul's teaching in Romans 8:28 makes such a practical difference when we face difficult trials.

'And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them'.

Although we might be tempted to turn away from God and run from him during trials, knowing God's love and remembering his purpose in them will help us to trust him even more.

It was a good time of sharing on how we can reach out to our neighbours and be a testimony to them..

The night started with Ai Li doing ice-breakers.. We played this really fun, confusing card game.. For someone who doesn't really enjoy doing ice-breakers, she really did an awesome job..

It was also Ai Li's birthday last Tuesday so we had a belated birthday celebration for her at cell..

Cell This Friday: Visit the Music Master

Yup, that's what we're going to be doing this Friday - a visit to the Music Master!

Clement's finally got his shop up and running after years of selling his loot online :) So, we're heading over to hangout, checkout the loot, jam a little maybe (hehehe), and then head off for a celebratory dinner!

Here's a couple of pics I pinjam-ed showing the progress of his shop:

If you're coming to join us, we're meeting there at 8.00pm tomorrow night to chill.

The shop is situated on the same row as Kayu Nasi Kandar (the old Chow Yang rest) but further down and it's on the first floor, on top SS2 Banana Leaf Curry House. Just look for 16A.

Definitely something to look forward to!

It's a dog...It's a....WHAT IS THAT!?!

One word: Pictionary.

Even if you could not draw, you would've still been screaming that friday :)

We started off our third cell with the conventional "prison-mate" style icebreaker - state your name, where you work and a cartoon character to describe your week just passed. The highlight just had to be catwoman - why? Because, Esther just felt sexy that week...hahahahahhaa. To top it all off, she was wearing this slinky little black number that night with some funky crocodile-skin sharp-toed shoes. *meeowwwww* hehehe...

Then began our first worship session ever in this newly multiplied cell - all I can say, is that it felt so good just to be able to worship God together; for the first time, being able to worship God in music and song - it was very very refreshing. I look forward to more of these days to come :) Plus, we've got some fantastic guitar & piano talents in our cell! Woohoo!

And then...the screaming started. We whipped out the pictionary set after dinner and at first, sluggish from the food, everyone was just trying to keep up with the drawing (and no one's cube was moving - so sad!) until Cheng Jin started drawing up a frenzy! and KABOOM...! What happened during the "all play" (we broke some rules and did "all plays" even though there wasn't supposed to be) was just loud, brain-cracking, low-muttering, pencil-poking, heart-attack guessing!

At the end of the day...the brain was juiced out & the hand was shaking.... :)

All I can say is, I thank God for my cellies. They're a fantastic bunch!

Indeed it must be!

We've spent a couple of days looking through blog templates and things like that, and we've finally settled on one we hope will carry us through the next couple of years :)

In the interested of being most accurate and faithful to our mother cell, here's where the story of where we came from:

Three years ago, Seapark Cell was launched. Although there was a Taman Mayang mamak just down the road with awesome nasi lemak, ayam goreng and milo ais, we still insisted on dutifully going to Taman Tun Nasi Kandar every Friday after cell. Taman Nasi Kandar is known for it's diluted milo ais and soggy indomie goreng although the one redeeming factor has been its lamb chop - the arteries and cholesterol levels of Yuya, Kah Fai and Roger have this scrumptious dish to thank for their current states. Michelle Foo Mei Li of course, tries her very best to dissuade us from making our way there and instead, chill out at Ming Tien.

A couple of years later, we moved to D'Aman Crimson and although there were eateries right opposite at Niu Ze Xui (NZX) and closer options for supper after cell, yes that's right, we continued to dutifully go to Taman Tun Nasi Kandar, despite Michelle's rantings, yes, till even now. Now we're a bit smarter and no longer order the lamb chop in order to prolong our lives a little bit more, although we still enjoy the milo ais and indomie goreng. Once in awhile, Sian Jeen secretly swings by the stall opposite 7-11 to buy himself a Ramli burger before coming to the mamak and we get to watch him eat the burger, wishing we had thought to buy one as well. Oh yea, at that time we rebranded ourselves as Super Lame Cell for various reasons that I will not and probably should not disclose.

OK, the last two paragraphs were a bit pointless and if you're still here, what I'm trying to say is...We've just multiplied. While out mother cell is doing likewise, we started our first cell two weeks ago. And while they're even lamer than before, we're still as lame but then...we're also finding our way and discovering our new identity.

So the next couple of cells and years will be interesting and we're looking forward to see what happens next :) If you're ever able to, please do come and join us, and add in the fun!
